John Newton

John is currently working for an obscure christian charity, but before that was carrying out research into ghost beliefs in the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries for his PhD at St. Mary's College, Durham. He has presented papers to various bodies from the Ghost Club in London, to the Transylvanian Society of Dracula in Romania. His publications include Early Modern Ghosts, which he edited, as well as having written on the case The Exorcist was based on for The Saint Austin Review and contributing an essay on Scottish Witchcraft and Fairies for The Seventeenth Century. He is a member of both the Society for Psychical Research and the Churches' Fellowship for Spiritual and Psychical Studies. All views expressed are entirely his own and do not represent the positions of either body.
